WeNeed app for Coop

Creating and sharing shopping lists – easier than ever

Shop easier with WeNeed: Leading software company Netcetera, together with design studio Obvious, developed a smart, digital shopping list for Coop, one of the largest retail and wholesale companies in Switzerland. The clear credo was back to the essentials, away from complex shopping apps with many functions, towards a simple tool reduced to a minimum. Since February 2022, consumers are now able to create and share their digital shopping list easily, without advertising and distracting additional functions.

Simple things in life like shopping should be simplified with an app. The shopping apps on the market today come with numerous additional functions that distract from the actual action – shopping – and make creating a simple shopping list complex. However, many people would rather spend less time shopping and more time cooking.

Plan your shopping quickly and easily

This is exactly what the WeNeed App covers, which Coop developed in partnership with Netcetera, Obvious, Betty Bossi and FOOBY. It impresses with its simplicity and offers exactly the functions needed for shopping, without advertising or offers and not tied to a specific product line.

With WeNeed, purchases can be planned quickly and easily via smartphone or web browser: Create and share shopping list for collaborative editing, a smart search, an overview of frequently or recently purchased products, and manage multiple lists with a fast and user-friendly design. All of this is available in four languages and can be used without an internet connection. Particularly practical: Recipes from Betty Bossi and FOOBY can be transferred directly to the shopping lists, including quantities, as not to forget any ingredients.

Agile partnership

Adrian Steiger, Head of Digital Services at Coop, is delighted: "With the new app, we can offer our customers exactly the service they expect. Based on surveys, we have consistently focused on fulfilling customer needs during development, thus making shopping easier. This is exactly how the cooperation with our partners Netcetera and Obvious was: uncomplicated and agile. Thanks to their deep knowledge and years of experience, we were able to bring this app to market quickly and efficiently."

The development of the app and web is then also a fine example of agile development. Working in partnership, the four companies have created a great product that meets the exact requirements and genuinely makes consumers' lives easier.
