Netcetera ACS is the first worldwide certified with the EMV® 3-D Secure 2.3.1 Protocol

Securing online payments for first-class customer experience

The international payment player Netcetera is honored to share that EMVCo has granted EMV® 3-D Secure 2.3.1. approval to the Access Control Server of Netcetera.

"Same as EMVCo, Netcetera aims for constant progress into e-commerce. Its mission is to provide cardholders globally with reliable and convenient payments enabled through the best and most secure payment grounds and products. – stated Peter Frick, Managing Director of Payment & Identity at Netcetera, and added that Netcetera’s ACS is the first payment product worldwide to get certified by EMVCo with the latest payment protocol. It should fulfill our customers’ requirements for the most modern way of working and protect their cardholders through authentication, security, and easiness during online payments."

Some of the key enhancements in EMV® 3DS 2.3.1 include:

  • Inclusion of WebAuthn (Web Authentication) and Secure Payment Confirmation (SPC), to better determine the legitimacy of a transaction to reduce the risk of fraud.
  • Fully automatic app switching and components for a novel class of authentication.
  • Device binding, which enables the consumer to be remembered on their device and can reduce the need for an authentication challenge.

EMVCo has introduced EMV® 3DS 2.3.1 in September 2022. It aims to help issuers and merchants protect from growing card-not-present (CNP) fraud risks. EMV® 3DS 2.3.1 builds on earlier versions of the specifications with new data elements and flows that streamline consumer authentication and enhance card-not-present (CNP) fraud prevention.

As an EMVCo Technical Associate, Netcetera addresses new trends in payment transactions early on and keeps its services and products up to date.
