Banking4students Challenge: Innovate the Future of Student Banking!

This is your chance to redefine student banking together with G+D Netcetera and Halkbank in an exciting challenge! 

Join forces with fellow students, form a team, and develop a concept for a next-gen mobile banking app—built by students, for students. Compete for rewards up to 1500 EUR for first place, 1000 EUR for second place, and 500 EUR for third place, gain hands-on experience, and make your mark in the fintech world!

Most existing mobile banking apps are designed for general banking services and a broader, older audience. But what if banking was built specifically for students? The Banking4students Challenge invites you to develop a concept for a mobile banking app that directly serves the needs of students and younger generations.

Think smarter budgeting, effortless saving, seamless payments, and financial tools designed for student life—this is your chance to innovate!

The Competition:

You’ll get an in-depth look at the Banking4students Challenge, along with insights into previous research and efforts led by industry experts and student teams.

It’s up to you and your team’s knowledge, creativity, and expertise to develop a feasible concept for a mobile banking app, with a demo implementation that’s only limited by your imagination—and your real needs as students.

Throughout the challenge, you’ll be guided by domain professionals with years of experience in digital banking, ensuring you get the support needed to bring your ideas to life!

The Schedule:

Friday, February 28th - deadline for sign-ups:

Competition entries are open until Friday, 28 February, at 23:59. Please enter your team’s name, the names of the team members, and an email address where we can contact you.

12:00 Opening - speakers from G+D Netcetera and Halkbank

Monday - Friday 

  • Individual team working sessions in Netaville
  • Slack group for coordination and questions for the mentors

Thursday, 6 March 2025 - 2h to 3h live mentoring sessions in Netaville (if necessary) 


Presentations day 8 March 2025  


12:00 Start of presentations 
Each team has a 10-min time slot for the presentation

14:00 (this will depend on how many teams are presenting)  

  • Short lunch break (30 min)
  • Results and announcing the winners

The Rules:

The rules for Banking4students Challenge are pretty simple:

  • Your team must consist of 2 to 4 people;
  • The final solution must be submitted via the MS Forms link by the stated deadline;
  • Your team must present the solution in front of the judges.

The Judging:

The team of judges will consist of G+D Netcetera and Halkbank professionals, ensuring a fair, unbiased, and transparent allocation of points.

Each solution will be graded according to these categories:

  • Innovativeness - how innovative and out-of-the-box your submission is
  • Feasibility - how real and feasible is the complete implementation and integration of the solution
  • Completeness - how complete and feature-stacked your submission is 
  • Presentation - how big of a show will your team put on while presenting

The Prizes:

We've decided to award the three submissions with the most points from the Jury as follows:

  • The grand prize of €1500 will be handed to the team awarded with the most points from the Jury
  • The runner-ups will receive €1000
  • The third-placed team will receive €500
